I started martial arts training in 1969 at the age of 4 and has been actively seeking knowledge ever since. made first degree Black
belt at the age of 10, and recently reached a milestone when he was awarded his 8th degree Black Belt in Red Dragon Karate,
He also has earned his 1st Degree Black belt in Shorin-Ryu under long time mentor and friend Steve Fisher. My professional
tournament career started in 1982 and when I retired in 1992 I had amassed a very impressive string of titles: 4 time national
open forms champion, 2 national weapons titles, and a top 5 rated middleweight fighter. I am also one of the first national
competitors to win Grand Champion titles in three different decades of my life: 20 s 30 s and having just turned 40 in January
2004 I competed and won the weapons Grand Championship at the N. A. S. K. A. 5 star rated COMPETE Nationals held at the LA
County.
What is the most important thing in the martial arts in your opinion?
RESPECT and DEDICATION.
Do you have a hero and mentor?
My father, who is the founder of our style of Martial arts (Red Dragon Karate)-is my hero!
I have many mentors including Mr. Steve Fisher, Pat Johnson, Andrew Crowell, and just about anyone els I can gain knowledge
and wisdom from.
How did you get started in the movie business?
The first of which was directly attributed to a Grand Champion performance at Joe Corley s Battle of Atlanta On Mr. Corley s
recommendation Pat Johnson, the fight choreographer behind smash hits such as The Karate Kid 1-4 Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles and dozens of other top films, took a chance for me, in a small film which starred with my longtime pal Mike Bernardo
called Shoot fighter These first gigs helped me land the role for which most people now recognize me. The role of Scorpion in
the hit film Mortal Kombat .
In the movie called "Shootfighter" you've played a part of Creon. The star of the movie is Bolo Yeung. How was your relationship
with him?
Master Yeung and I had very few scenes together in the film. But while we were working together he was always a nice guy and
very professional on the set. Mike Bernardo (co star of the film) said he had a great time with Master Yeung. I am a big fan of his
from one of my other favorite films "Enter the Dragon".
What is your favorite movie you have starred in?
Mortal Kombat!
You was a stunt double for George Clooney in the movie "Batman & Robin".Can you tell anything about this experience?
It was a great experience George Clooney is a very cool guy, I got to have a lunch with him during filming. I also got to meet
Arnold Schwatrzenegger who played Mr. Freeze in the movie, and we got to do a short fight scene together.
As Scorpion you are a one of the stars of "Mortal Combat". Tell us a little about the film.
"Mortal Kombat" has been very very good to me, and I appreciate all the fans who support the film and it's games. I am very
excited about the upcoming third installment. Its gonna be GREAT! Sorry can't tell you more yet.......
What is your new movie project?
We've got an animated feature coming out this fall called "FOOD FIGHT" please check out www.foodfightmovie.com for more on
that one. Then later this year will appear in back to back projects. The first of which is the long awaited sequel to the first two
Mortal Kombat films. MK Devastation is slated to begin filming early in 2009. Immediately on the horizon is the new reality show

Thank you for the interview.
When an eager and enthusiastic four year old Chris Casamassa told his Dad that he
wanted to start learning the Martial Arts there would be no turning back until he got his
black belt because his Dad said so and when your Dad is Louis D. Casamassa, Grand
Master and founder of the hugely successful chain of Red Dragon Karate Schools, you
just don t say no. It looks like Father knows best because today Chris is well on his way
to becoming one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood, and his Martial Arts
training has helped get him there.
